Saudi Patient Safety Center

The Saudi Patient Safety Center was established in 2017 and it is the first of its kind in the entire region fulfilling one of the initiatives of the National Transformation Vision 2030 and Health Sector Transformation Program.

The ordinance of the Saudi Patient Safety Center was issued by the Council of Ministers in 2020. The center roles and responsibilities locally is to establish a framework to improve and enhance healthcare safety to ensure the provision of safer healthcare services, and to empower the patients and practitioners with what serves the main goals of the healthcare sector transformation. It also enhances the visibility of the Kingdom’s efforts to contribute to supporting global efforts in the healthcare sector.
The center also works to raise awareness and spread knowledge in the field of patient safety and to enhance cooperation and exchange of experiences with local and international organizations and institutions. The Center was selected as a collaborating center with the World Health Organization regarding patient safety policies and strategies in 2020.
